Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions we hear most. Want more? We've gathered every answer from all our guides in one place.
Do I pay for a mortgage broker?
Usually not. Lenders pay brokers a commission when your loan settles. If a fee ever applies to your situation, we'll tell you in writing before you proceed.
Will checking my options affect my credit score?
No. Our questions and calculators don't trigger a credit check. An enquiry is only made when you agree to apply with a lender.
How quickly will someone call me?
We aim to call within 2 business hours, at the time you choose. You can also book a time online.
You're Sydney-based. Can you help me in another state?
Yes. Everything can be done by phone, video and secure email, and settlement is electronic, so we help clients Australia-wide.
Do I need to be a first home buyer to use the 5% Deposit Scheme?
Usually, yes. You can also qualify if you haven't owned property in Australia in the last 10 years. Previous ownership overseas doesn't count against you.
How often should I review my home loan?
Regularly: we review our clients' rates periodically, and you should also check whenever rates move or your circumstances change.
Will fixed rates go up again?
They may, if markets expect more hikes. They can also fall if expectations change. Nobody can say for certain.
When will my bank pass on the rise?
Most lenders announced changes within days, with effective dates in early to mid-October. Check your lender's website or app.
